Skills Development Ukwanda
An entry-level skills development programme for children aged 11-17 from all backgrounds.
The programme focuses on developing circus, creative, and collaborative skills as participants work towards the Annual Showcase, with the opportunity to be identified and selected for progression into the ZAPPERS talent development programme.
Social Challenge
Many young talented individuals cannot afford the costs associated with developing their skills in a safe environment with the guidance of trained instructors.
Programme Goal
Bringing children from outreach and youth streams together to learn, to create, and to work towards a common goal (Year-end Show & Tell).
2025 Programme Impact
The Ukwanda programme provides foundational circus training, developing technical skills, performance quality, responsibility and leadership. Through weekly sessions and participation in the annual showcase, students build confidence, teamwork and stage presence, preparing them for progression into the Zappers pathway.
Participants showed growth in technical ability, resilience, adaptability and leadership, with increasing maturity and commitment to their training. Highlights included the Annual Showcase and Family Day, which strengthened both performance experience and parental support.
